Typography | Fall 2017 | Claudia Roeschmann
The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over the Lazy Dog is a children’s book named after the old English pangram which follows a dog’s typographic adventure to Gotham, Memphis, and Georgia. The characters and illustrations are created out of type and each page features hidden words and typographic patterns.
Project Scope:
The goal of this project was to create a children's book using only typographic elements. Any illustrative effects were to be achieved through altering existing type forms.
Synopsis:
The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over the Lazy Dog turns an old English pangram — used in printing and typography since the late 1800’s — into a typographic adventure that will entertain children and typophiles alike. The book begins as expected: the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. However, no one really knows why it happened or what happened next — until now.
Follow the “lazy” dog on a typographic adventure through Memphis, Gotham, and Georgia.
